Japanese Cultural Heritage in Tokyo is ......
the one-stop guide for "National Treasure" and "Important Cultural Property" (designated by the Government of Japan) in Tokyo. Hope this helps you know about different aspects of Japan from those broadly spread around.
What is "Important Cultural Property"?
Apart from the World Heritage system designated by the UNESCO, Japan has its own domestic designation system named "Important Cultural Property", imposing restrictions to their alteration, repair and export. Among the items designated, the particularly valuable items are designated as "National Treasure". The designation takes place at a level of nation, prefecture and city according to the criteria, and this site covers only the items designated at the level of nation.

Who is TeaTime Tokyo?
I am an antique-lover... but not interested in owning, rather interested in watching and feeling superb items.
I was born and grown up mainly in Tokyo. In my 20's and 30's, I had opportunities to live and work abroad where I found myself know little about my home country Japan...If I introduce what I learn about Japan, will it help anybody?
These are some of the reasons why I kicked off this site, I believe.
